About Henry

With the recent sad news that Epic delayed the Gears 3 release by 5 months, gamers were in the dumps struggling to find ways of surviving without their Gears Of War fix, little did they know Epic had something planned.

Scheduled for early next year Producer Rod Fergusson announced the beta and admitted they they’ve already used Gears 2 players as guinea pigs by making slight adjusments to weapons and other stats to bring them closer to their Gears 3 counterparts.

Xbox live users will be invited to join the multiplayer beta sometime early next year, with the huge success of the previous 2 games, Gears 3 is setting up to be a massive hit.

Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers is an online Strategy game developed by Stainless games. It was released for Steam on the 17th July 2010.

Fans of the series will enjoy the expansion to online gaming, adding a variety of diabolic puzzles and online challenges, there is plenty to keep fans interested. The cards are presented well and many characters from the original games make appearances, it is clear that they’re aware of their fanbase and what they want in a game but do they have the expertise to get non-strategy gamers interested? I don’t think so.

Usually this type of game is labeled “Geek”, the type of players you see in the Warhammer shop every Sunday playing with little plastic figures, I’m never one to jump on the band wagon but I believe the label to be correct in this case. If you’ve never played a Magic The Gathering game, its a trading card type game very similar to Yugioh and even the more adult versions of the Pokemon trading card game, safe to say if you’re used to high adrenaline scenes in Counter Strike or Halo, watching 2d cards turn, spin and get placed on a table, probably won’t spark your interest much.

The game itself seems bland, the graphics are nothing special, the cards and tactics have been seen in many trading card games and the rate/cost of the downloadable content is ridiculous. There are currently 25+ DLC’s available, all priced at $1 each giving you a few new cards to add to your deck, for an extra $1 you can add a foil effect to your cards making them more rare and powerful. Yet another Franchise that was rushed into an MMO for one reason, money. It has become far to common for companies to pump out sub par DLC’s just to milk a few more bucks but while people keep paying it, the companies will continue.

Do you dream of earning a living through competitive gaming? Do your parents or spouse tell you it’s a pipe dream? Slap this in their face as some of the Worlds best gamers earn $100,000s of dollars every year, through games and game related endorsement. Below is a list of 3 big earners.

Dennis “Thresh” Fong

With total earnings of over $100 million, Thresh is one of the most successful gamer turned business men on the Internet. After winning several big profile “Ferrari” gaming events, he invested his $100,000 prize money into online social and media. Creating and selling Xfire for over $100 million, Thresh is easily topping the charts for the most earned in a gamers career. The special thing about Thresh’ story is that this all happened in the early 90s, competitive gaming was still laughed at back in those days with very few taking it seriously. Some even say Thresh is a large reason why competitive gaming is so popular today.

Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel

If you’re not familiar with this name, I suggest you rethink your Career choice. Widely renowned to be one of the most gifted cyber athletes on the planet, Johnathan is living the gamers dream with total earnings up in the millions. He has won 5+ Championships, has an entry in the Guinness World Record Book for 672 frags in 60 minutes and he owns his own gaming company that sells everything from gadgets to furniture. This guy is what so many dream to be, a successful online gamer that is respected in practically every form of online communication.

Manuel “Grubby” Schenkhuizen

AKA “King Of Orcs” is considered by many to be the most successful Europeans to be involved in the international gaming scene, the Dutch 24 year old has claimed well over $200,000 in prize winnings and is most famous for his 12 country wins in 1 vs 1 frag competitions. Although this European gamer has achieved a lot, some may say his biggest achievement was getting married to an ex-model from Singapore before turning her into a Blizzcon pro gamer. Anyone that has tried to turn a girl into a gamer is well aware that is is next to impossible so kudos for that Grubby!
